Wastewater Treatment by ARMATEC Environmental Ltd

IAF (induced air flotation) and DAF (disolved air flotation) for solids/liquids separation. Applications in wastewater treatment: primary treatment, effluent polishing, phosphorus and algae removal, oil and grease removal, water reclamation for re-use, etc. Pilot plant and bench jar testing equipment available for proving technology, obtaining design information and generating samples of treated water and sludge.

IAF & DAF
The IAF process that is ideal for many solids-liquid separation applications. A portion of the clean effluent is recycled back to the top of the cell as a liquid jet that entrains air into the process to form the air bubbles that are the process driving force. Thus no blower is needed. A faster rise velocity is achieved meaning smaller footprints and lower capital costs. For some applications a hybrid IAF/DAF is used to minimise chemical consumption.
Phos/Algae Removal
A key application for IAF/DAF is the removal of phosphorus and algae from the effluent of wastewater treatment ponds. The soluble phosphorus is precipitated chemically and then the solids formed together with the algae are separated from the water by flotation. The first New Zealand project was commissioned in July 2005 at the Waihi wastewater treatment plant. The effluent from the oxidation ponds had been causing algae blooms and other negative effects in the Ohinemuri River for many years. The treated water is now clear and has a total phosphorus of less than 1 g/m3 (limit 1.4 g/m3) and suspended solids of less than 15 g/m3 (limit 35 g/m3). The photo to the right shows the floated phosphorus and algae sludge being removed from the flotation tank.
Wastewater Treatment Technologies
We can source technologies such as high rate biological systems, sedimentation tanks, reaction vessels, electro-coagulation etc, especially suited for treating high strength industrial effluents. Plants can be constructed in corrosion resistant fibreglass.
