Challenge
The bottoms of the steel methanol storage tanks were becoming badly pitted due to water accumulation at the base of the tank, to the point where the storage security of methanol was in question. The epoxy coating previously installed 8 to 10 years earlier had failed.
Solution
Armatec installed a flake filled polyester based coating across the base of the tank and 600 mm up the wall in 2004. This has been done in hundreds of similar tanks elsewhere in the world with great success.
Outcome
No maintenance since and coating continues to provide long term protection.
